Career
Troy Garity made his debut as an actor in front of the camera in 1974 with the documentary film ‘Introduction to the Enemy’, playing himself. As part of a family film, the camera followed his anti-war activist parents as they explored Vietnam and inquired about the effects of the war. After an uncredited role in the film ‘On Golden Pond’ in 1981, Garity played the minor role of a bartender on the television movie ‘The Cherokee Kid’ in 1996 and followed it up with the role of an inter in ‘Conspiracy Theory’.
Troy was able to secure a place in mainstream cinema in 2000. Abbie Hoffman, the radical figure of the 1960s and founder of Yippies, was used as a basis for the American biographical film ‘Steal This Movie!’ Following ‘Steal This Movie’, Garity was offered a few roles, such as Simon in ‘Perfume’ and Harvey Pollard in ‘Bandits’. In addition, he appeared in the TV series ‘Rude Awakening’ and in the short films ‘Solomon Bernstein’s’ and ‘Lather. Rinse. Repeat’.
His career’s breakthrough film was the 2002 film ‘Barbershop’. The Barbershop series’ first comedy film was a major boost to his career. Afterward, he played the part of a frightened survivor of a tragic family accident in ‘Lake City’. ‘Winged Creatures’ and ‘A Cat’s Tale’ are the other two projects he has for 2008. Three films and a guest appearance on the famous television medical drama ‘House’ made 2009 a busy year for Garity. He has appeared in movies such as ‘My One and Only’, ‘A Day in the Life’, and ‘Cajun Babbineaux’.
Agent Edward Kipton was played by him in an episode of ‘Hawaii Five-0’ in 2011. After that, he played a character known as John Bianchi in ‘The Playboy Club’ and continued to play Sam Miller in ‘Boss’ until 2013.
His 2013 work included appearances in the neo-noir action crime thriller film ‘Gangster Squad’ and the TV series ‘Elementary’.
