Growing up in a dysfunctional family as the youngest of nine children, he was exposed to drugs and violence at an early age.

Early Life

Mark Wahlberg was born in Boston, Massachusetts and goes by the official name of Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg. June 5, 1971 marked the birth of him, which was at a public hospital in Massachusetts. Actor Robert and singer/actor Donnie are his siblings, and he is the youngest of them all. Alma Elaine (née Donnelly) was his mother, and she worked as a bank clerk and nurse’s aid from 1942 to 2021, and his father, Donald Edmond Wahlberg Sr. (1930 to 2008), was also a U.S. citizen. A veteran of the Army during the Korean War. He split his time between them after his parents got divorced in 1982.

Career

Donnie, his older brother, was part of the successful boy band New Kids on the Block. Mark was among the initial members, but eventually left to start his own band. He teamed up with his friends Scott, Hector, Terry, and Anthony to form Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, a hip hop group. Their debut album ‘Music for the People’ was released by the group in 1991. The album had a song called ‘Good Vibrations’ that reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The production of the album was done by his brother Donnie.

The band’s next album, ‘You Gotta Believe’, was quickly released in 1992 after their debut was successful. This album failed to be a hit and the band disbanded. Acting was a transition he made with the 1993 television movie ‘The Substitute’. The year 1994 saw his appearance as Private Tommy Lee Haywood alongside Danny DeVito in the comedy film ‘Renaissance Man’. His role in the 1996 thriller ‘Fear’ was as a villain named David McCall.
