Jeffrey Wright is an American actor and producer who has a range of skills, having been born in Washington, D.C. on December 7, 1965. Barbara Evon Wright, a customs service lawyer, and his aunt, a nurse, were the two people who raised him after his father’s early death, and he was raised as an only child in a supportive but challenging environment.
His interest in acting was cultivated at St. Albans School for Boys, where he also participated in soccer and lacrosse. Wright obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from Amherst College in 1987, with the intention of pursuing law, but later switched to acting after taking theater classes. At New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, he briefly studied acting but then left to begin his career.

Jeffrey began his career as an actor in off-Broadway plays in New York City and Washington, D.C. before he transitioned to on-screen projects. After a period of auditioning, he made his first appearance on screen as a prosecuting attorney in the 1990 legal drama ‘Presumed Innocent’. The film was a big critical and commercial success. Jeffrey made his television debut in 1991, portraying William Coleman as a supporting cast in the TV film titled ‘Separate but Equal’. He played a small part in the action-adventure series titled ‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’ for two episodes.
He was given a great opportunity to play a supporting role in the black crime-comedy film titled ‘Faithful’ in 1996.
