January 15, 1977 marked the birth of Giorgia Meloni in Rome, Italy. Francesco Meloni’s place of birth was Sardinia while her mother, Anna Paratore, originated from Sicily. At fifteen years old, she began her political career by joining the Youth Front, the youth wing of the national conservative Italian Social Movement. She founded The Ancestors, a student coordination group, which protested against the public education reform promoted by Minister Rosa Russo Iervolino during this period.

The National Alliance, which is the right-wing successor to the Italian Social Movement, elected Giorgia Meloni as their national leader in 1996.
