In her early years, Ackles worked as a model for companies like Big Sexy Hair and Juicy Jeans before obtaining her first acting role. She was a part of the One Life to Live cast in 2003, as Shannon McBain, a student at the fictional Llanview University. This role resulted in Ackles relocating to New York and she stayed on the show until December 2004.
Following One Life to Live, Ackles kept building her acting resume by appearing on various TV shows like JAG, Charmed, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, What I Like About You, NCIS, and Joey. The Plight of Clownana was the first film she played in.
Harris was a part of the sitcom television series pilot Friends with Benefits that was picked up by NBC in September 2009.
