Born on October 28, 1949, in Mount Kisco, New York, Caitlyn Marie Jenner initially used the name William Bruce Jenner. She later changed her name to Caitlyn in June 2015. Her parents, Esther Ruth and William Hugh Jenner, were originally from New Brunswick, Canada, and were initially arborists. Burt, Jenner’s younger brother, was killed in a car crash in Canton, Connecticut, on November 30, 1976, just following Jenner’s triumph at the Olympics. Jenner studied at Sleepy Hollow High School in Sleepy Hollow, New York, for his first and second years, and later transferred to Newtown High School in Newtown, Connecticut, for his third and fourth years, completing his education in 1968. In 1972, he attained third place in the decathlon during the US Olympic trials and concluded at the tenth position at the Munich Games. In the Montreal Olympics of 1976, he claimed the gold medal in decathlon, recording a world record score of 8616 points, a record that Daley Thompson surpassed in 1980.
