Biography

On May 24, 1975, Will Sasso was born in Ladner, British Columbia, Canada, the daughter of Italian immigrants. Antonio Sasso and Anna Sasso are the names of her parents.

In 1993, Will completed his studies at Secondary School of Delta in British Columbia. He asserts that he was committed to becoming an actor. His addiction to television led him to develop a fondness for comedy as a child.

Career

At the age of 15, Will Sasso obtained his first agent and began booking roles in films and television. He relocated to Vancouver and Los Angeles, California. Derek Wakaluk was the character he portrayed in Madison, an award-winning Canadian dramatic series, for five seasons before that.

Will made his TV debut in a 1991 episode of the Canadian drama “Neon Rider,” then he guest-starred on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” (1993) and appeared in the films “Ski School 2” (1994), “Ernest Goes to School” (1994), “Magic in the Water” (1995), “Malicious” (1995), “Happy Gilmore” (1996), and “Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco” (1996).

From 1994 to 1997, he played Derek Wakaluk on the Canadian teen drama “Madison,” and he had a recurring role as Gomez Calhoun on the Fox sci-fi series “Sliders” from 1995 to 1996. Sasso became a well-known impersonator of celebrities like Bill Clinton, Randy Newman, Kenny Rogers, and Stone Cold Steve Austin after joining the cast of ‘MADtv’ in 1997. From season three to seven, Will was part of the cast, and he has guest starred several times since leaving the show in 2002.

In 1997, Sasso co-starred with Chris Farley in “Beverly Hills Ninja,” then he appeared in the films “The 6th Man” (1997), “Brown’s Requiem” (1998), “Drop Dead Gorgeous” (1999), and “Dawg” (2002). The Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical was won by him for his role as Dale the Fishing Hole Guy in Christopher Guest’s Best in Show (2000).

The 2006 Canadian Comedy Awards and the festival’s Sketch & Improv Showcases were both held by Sasso in London, Ontario. Furthermore, he was the host of the 2005–2006 NHL award ceremony. The Chick Chop Flick Shop episode CSI featured Sasso. He played a role in the Children’s Hospital episode ‘Frankfurters’ as well. Sasso starred in $h*! My Dad Says, based on the Twitter feed Shit My Dad Says, created by Justin Halpern. In late 2010, the show premiered and was cancelled on May 15, 2011

In 2018 and beyond, Sasso portrayed Mountie Archambault in the comedy film Super Troopers 2. In November 2019, he took on the role of Mr. Ellingboe in Netflix’s Klaus. The television series Young Sheldon featured Sasso as the supporting character of Jim McAllister from 2022 to spring 2024. In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, released in October 2024, his portrayal of the character has been expanded.
