Career
Soulja Boy’s early success in music was influenced by the internet. A positive response was received by him after posting a song on SoundClick in November 2005. He established accounts on YouTube and Myspace for his musical endeavors as a result of this.
In March 2007, he released his debut album, titled ‘Unsigned & Still Major: Da Album Before Da Album’. In May 2007, the song ‘Crank That’ received its first airplay. The second studio album was not well-received. His critics were silenced by his third single, ‘Turn My Swag On’, which was viewed as a one-hit wonder. The song reached number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 after achieving success on the US Rap Charts. He produced several mixtapes during this time, including ‘Paranormal Activity’, ‘Dat Piff’, and ‘Cortez’.
Soulja Boy’s record of failure continued, with his third studio album, ‘The DeAndre Way’, being the lowest-selling album so far. Starting in 2011, he began releasing a series of mixtapes that included ‘Smooky’, ‘1UP’, and ‘Juice’. In the future, he created the EP compilation titled ‘Bernaurd Arnault EP’, which was followed by ’21: EP’ and ‘The Last Crown’. At the close of the year, he released several more mixtapes, such as ‘Supreme’, ‘Skate Boy’, and ‘Gold On Deck’.
50/13, Mario & Domo vs. the World, OBEY, and Double Cup City were among the mixtapes released by Soulja Boy in 2012. The sequel mixtape ‘Juice II’ was released in September 2012, and it became his most-downloaded mixtape. He then proceeded to release mixtapes called ‘Young & Flexing’ and ‘LOUD’, the latter of which was his first mixtape to be sold on iTunes.
In 2011, Soulja Boy announced that he was in the process of creating an album called ‘Promise’. The mixtape ‘Foreign’ was released in February 2013 due to delays in releasing the album. He signed a contract with Cash Money Records after his record deal with Interscope Records expired. The first single from his album, ‘Handsome’, was released after retitling it to ‘USA DRE’.
In March 2013, he produced the EP ‘All Black’ and shortly thereafter produced the mixtape ‘Foreign 2’. Later, there were a number of mixtapes and EPs that were released, such as ‘King Soulja’, his second EP ‘Cuban Link’, mixtapes ‘Life After Fame’, ’23’, and ‘The King’.
