This drink has been popular since the 1980s, but its exact origin has not been confirmed, many believe that the name was inspired by a Florida bartender who created this drink while trying to promote peach schnapps. His creation was named after what he thought were the two biggest attractions of spring break: sex and the beach.
The process of making a Sex On The Beach cocktail:
This cocktail can be made with any combination of 4 ingredients: vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice, and cranberry juice. Our preference is to use plain vodka to allow our fresh fruit juices to shine, but flavored, fruity vodkas can also be utilized in this recipe. For the most classic version, some people choose to substitute the orange juice with pineapple or another citrus-based juice, while others opt to keep it the same. Orange juice doesn’t have to be fancy. Pick an orange juice that you like to drink (we suggest pulp-free, but if you’re into pulp, go for it!).
We add an orange wedge and maraschino cherries to finish our summer cocktail. If you really want to enhance the tropical vibes, feel free to top with little cocktail umbrellas to truly feel like you’re in paradise with every sip.
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz. vodka
1/2 oz.peach schnapps
2 oz. orange juice
2 oz. cranberry juice
Orange wedge and maraschino cherries, for serving
Directions
Add ice to a glass. Mix vodka, peach schnapps, and orange juice by stirring gently.
Add cranberry juice to it.
Top off with an orange wedge and cherries.
