The birth of Cate Blanchett occurred on May 14, 1969 in Victoria, Australia and was welcomed by June and Robert DeWitt Blanchett Jr. During her father’s US Navy service and later advertising executive career, her mother worked as a teacher and real estate developer. A computer systems engineer is her older brother and a play designer is her younger sister. Bob Blanchett and Genevieve Blanchett are the names they go by.
Blanchett went to Ivanhoe East Primary School and Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School before enrolling at Methodist Ladies’ College. She discontinued her attendance at the University of Melbourne after a year. During the late teens and early twenties, Blanchett worked in a nursing home.
