Biography
Venus Williams became a citizen of the United States on June 17, 1980, after being born in Lynwood, California. She was born to Oracene Price and Richard Williams. She has siblings such as Isha Price, Lyndrea Price, Serena Williams, and Yetunde Price. As a child, Venus Williams developed a love for sports. Rick Macci was the coach who helped Venus and her sister Serena refine their tennis skills. Venus Williams continued her training until she reached her teenage years. Her father continued to train her and Serena after her training with Macci ended. Her father continued to be her coach as her professional career began.
Personal Life
Since 2007, Venus Williams has been in a romantic relationship with pro-golfer Hank Kuehne. There was a strong chemistry and understanding between the two. However, they parted ways in 2010.
Elio Pis, a Cuban model, is Williams’ current partner. Their initial encounter was during Williams’ fashion line, EleVen, when the latter modelled for it.
Career
Venus Williams began playing official games when she was fourteen years old. Despite losing the match, she had a set and a service break against Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, who was then World No. 2. Three tournaments were played by Williams in 1995. Despite losing all three matches in Oakland, she managed to beat World No. 18 Amy Frazier and reach the quarterfinals. The feat was followed in 1996 when she lost four times in the first round but managed to reach the third round in Los Angeles, before losing to World Number 1 Steffi Graf.
Williams experienced success for the first time in 1997 with sweet news. Williams earned herself a spot in the Top 100 by reaching the quarterfinals of three out of five contests in Tier I tournaments. Williams had mixed outcomes from the 1997 Grand Slams.
