Dove Olivia Cameron, originally Chloe Celeste Hosterman, began her acting career with B.P.A’s ‘Les Miserables’ on stage. She has become one of Disney and Hollywood’s most well-known actresses and vocalists. Both career paths have seen Cameron achieve tremendous success. Dove Cameron, who used to be named Chloe Celeste Hosterman, was born on January 15, 1996, in Seattle, Washington and lived on Bainbridge Island in Washington during her childhood. Bonnie Wallace and Philip Alan Hosterman, who passed away, are Dove’s parents. Bonnie Wallace is the mother of Dove and she is also an actress and writer. Her father passed away when Dove was young. Claire Hosterman is the older sister of her, and she is also an actress.

Dove Cameron’s passion for the performing arts began at a young age, with her participation in acting classes and community theater productions. Her aspirations to become an actress were fueled even more by the move of her family to Los Angeles.

At 8 years old, she began her journey with community theater and went on to attend Sakai Intermediate School. After moving to Los Angeles at 14, she showcased her talents by singing in Burbank High School’s National Championship Show Choir.

In August 2013, Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan started a relationship that lasted four years. Their engagement was announced on April 14, 2016 while co-starring in Liv and Maddie and collaborating with The Girl and the Dreamcatcher band. As confirmed through social media statements, their union ended in October 2016.

Ryan McCartan, hailing from Excelsior, Minnesota, is recognized as an actor, singer, and songwriter renowned for portraying Diggie Smalls in Liv and Maddie and Brad Majors in The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again.

In February 2017, Dove Cameron’s romantic journey changed when she became publicly involved with Thomas Doherty. The set of Descendants 2 resulted in their connection blossoming. The role of Sean Matthews in The Lodge and Harry Hook in Descendants has made Thomas, a Scottish actor and singer from Edinburgh, widely celebrated.

Career

Despite Dove’s entry into the entertainment industry in 2012, she only gained recognition recently. In the ‘Disney Channel’ series ‘Bits and Pieces’, she made her first television appearance as the character Alanna. Since then, she has appeared in several other shows, such as ‘The Mentalist’, ‘Malibu Country’, and ‘Austin and Ally.’ Dove was able to gain much visibility thanks to the Disney Channel series ‘Liv and Maddie’. As a promotional single, Cameron released a cover version of Imagine Dragons’ song ‘On Top of the World’ in August 2013. The ‘Billboard Kid Digital Songs’ chart placed her cover seventeenth and it stayed there for three weeks. Walt Disney Records released a new single called ‘Better In Stereo’ in October.

In addition to her main role, she had a supporting role in the 2014 Disney Channel Original Movie Cloud 9. Furthermore, she supplied the voice for the character Mal in the well-received Disney Channel movie series Descendants (2015-2019). Her outstanding portrayal of Mal, the daughter of Maleficent, earned her considerable acclaim and was pivotal in elevating her fame.

After achieving success on Disney Channel, Cameron went on to pursue a career in film and television. In 2019, she starred alongside Jennifer Aniston in the Netflix movie Dumplin and appeared in the 2021 comedy series Schmigadoon among other notable credits!
