He appeared in the 1993 film Me and the Kid.

Career

At the tender age of four, Wilson made his debut on Broadway. He began dancing at Harlem’s renowned Apollo Theater when he was twelve. At thirteen, Wilson experienced adversity when his appendix ruptured, which put his life in danger. As an adult, he was deeply committed to serving God in a ministerial capacity due to this life-altering experience. In 1966, he embarked on a different journey by joining the United States Army.

After playing an infamous robber on All in the Family with Cleavon Little, Wilson was given the role of Lamont Sanford in Sanford and Son, which aired on NBC in 1971. Wilson was chosen instead of Johnny Brown because of his commitment to Laugh-In.

Wilson played Lamont throughout the series’ duration and became the show’s star when Redd Foxx left the show in 1974 due to a wage dispute with the producers, and his character was written out for the rest of the season.

After returning the following year, Foxx and the two remained partners until the show was terminated in 1977. December 1, 1998 marks the publication of New Age Millennium by CAP Publishing & Literary Company, LLC. According to Wilson, the book, which was previously written for children, is an expose of various New Age symbols and slogans.

Wilson has a strong relationship with Clifton Davis and has frequently volunteered on the Trinity Broadcasting Network’s Praise The Lord program. He guest starred on the UPN sitcom Girlfriends, playing Lynn’s biological father.
