May 5, 1988 marks the birth of Adele, a British singer-songwriter who was born in Tottenham, London, England. Her early upbringing was distinguished by the absence of her father, Mark Evans, who left the family when she was just two years old, despite being raised by a young single mother named Penny Adkins.
