Donald Joseph Qualls, also known as Donald Joseph Qualls, is an actor born in the United States. He is best known for his television roles as Citizen Z on the Syfy horror series Z Nation (2014–2018) and Ed McCarthy on the Amazon Prime Video series The Man in the High Castle (2015–2018).
Qualls became well-known after playing a supporting role in the sex comedy film Road Trip (2000), which he played again in the sequel, Road Trip: Beer Pong (2009). This was followed with a lead role in the teen comedy film The New Guy (2002), alongside starring roles in The Core (2003) and Hustle & Flow (2005), the latter of which earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. DJ Qualls’s family consists of teenage parents Debbie and Donnie Qualls, and DJ Qualls was born on June 10, 1978 in Nashville, Tennessee.
In Manchester, Tennessee, he was educated at Coffee County Central High School. Qualls had Hodgkin’s lymphoma when he was 14 years old. After two years of treatment, he was able to go into remission, which had a profound effect on his outlook on life. He was chosen to play the part of Jason in the mini-series ‘Mama Flora’s Family’ in 1997, which was based on a historical fiction novel written by Alex Haley and David Stevens. During that time, he was also involved in community theater.
