Early Life

Izabella Miko was born in Communist Poland on 21 January 1981 to two accomplished theater actors, Grazyna Dylag and Aleksander Mikolajczak. She started dancing before she could walk.

She started her dream job as a ballerina as soon as it became available to her at the age of 10. Izabella was accepted to the National Ballet School in Warsaw and though her teachers were concerned about what seemed to be some flexibility limitations of her body from the start, Izabella was determined to realize her dream.

She had no choice but to train harder and longer than the other dancers, and she did. At the age of 15, Izabella became so proficient that she was selected to study at the School of American Ballet on a full scholarship.
