Career
Woodrow Wilson Middle School marked the beginning of Andre Drummond’s basketball career. At Capital Preparatory Magnet School, he played and then at St. Thomas More, where he was a dominant center on the team. He played for the United States team that won the gold medal at the 2010 FIBA Under-17 World Championship.
Drummond continued his education at the University of Connecticut. He participated in 34 games, averaging 28.4 minutes per game, grabbed 7.6 rebounds, and scored 10.0 points. The 2012 NBA draft was made available to him in April 2012. His selection was made by the Detroit Pistons. The NBA’s All-Rookie Second Team included him in the following year.
