Who is Eiza González?

Eiza González Reyna has a reputation for her work in both acting and singing. She has forayed in films, television and theatres with equal élan. A student of famed acting schools of Mexico City, ‘M & M Studio’ and ‘Centro de Educación Artística’, Eiza was first spotted by director-producer, Pedro Damian, who cast her in the Argentine telenovela ‘Floricienta’. She was given the opportunity to play Lola in the Mexican teen-oriented melodrama telenovela ‘Lola…Érase una vez’. Her role paved the way for other opportunities, leading to her immense fame and popularity.

On January 30, 1990, Eiza González Reyna, born in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico, was conceived by her parents Carlos González and Glenda Reyna. She had a mother who was a well-known Mexican model. An older brother named Yulen is her sibling. She was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and received treatment when she was twelve years old.

Her father’s tragic loss in a motorcycle accident occurred when she was twelve years old. She revealed in September 2015 that this event caused her to struggle with compulsive overeating and depression from the age of fifteen to twenty. In Mexico City, Eiza went to both the American School Foundation and the Edron Academy. Upon graduating from Televisa’s Centro de Educación Art stica acting school, she landed the lead role in the teen telenovela Lola…Érase una vez at age 16.

Career

The acting school ‘M & M Studio’ in Mexico City, run by renowned actress Patricia Reyes Sp ndola, was where Eiza began her career in 2003. She was a student at the school until 2004. During her fourteenth birthday, she was permitted to take a three-year course at Televisa’s renowned entertainment educational institution, ‘Centro de Educación Art stic’, in Mexico City. Pedro Damian, the producer-director, noticed her there. In a couple of years, she was given her first break by Damian when he cast her in a remake of a popular Argentine telenovela for children titled ‘Floricienta’.

Lola…Érase una vez’, that premiered in Mexico on February 26, 2007, and ran for two seasons till January 11, 2008, saw her essaying the starring role of Dolores “Lola” Valente, the lead female protagonist. Many other countries across Latin America and the US aired the show due to its huge popularity. Her performance included the opening themes of ‘Si me besas’ and ‘Masoquismo’.

EMI Televisa signed a deal with her in late 2008, that led her to release her debut album ‘Contracorriente’ on November 24, 2009, in Mexico/Latin America through EMI Televisa Music and on January 26, 2010, in the US through Capitol Latin. June 5, 2012 saw the release of her second album, ‘Te Acordarás de M’, on digital platforms. It made its debut at # 66 on the Mexican Top 100 Albums charts and achieved a peak of #14 on the US Billboard Latin Pop Album chart. In 2013, she made her debut on the big screen with the comedy drama film ‘Casi 30’, which was shown at various film festivals. The film’s release in Mexico was delayed until August 22, 2014. Her next big role on TV was that of Nikki Brizz Balvanera, a female protagonist, in the Mexican telenovela ‘Amores verdaderos’ that aired on Canal de las Estrellas from September 3, 2012, to May 12, 2013.

In February 2015, Neutrogena announced that she would be their newest ambassador for their skincare line. June 2017 saw the release of the action film ‘Baby Driver’, which she starred in. Eiza González made an appearance in the American science fiction movie ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ in 2019 as Nyssiana.
