Biography
On April 15, 1978, Lexington, Kentucky, USA welcomed Christopher Alvin Stapleton into the world when his parents, Herbert Joseph Stapleton Jr. and Carol J. Stapleton raised him. Growing up, he was surrounded by his older brother, Herbert, and his younger sister, Melanie.
Stapleton was the valedictorian at Johnson Central High School in 1996 before matriculating at Vanderbilt University in Nashville to pursue engineering studies. Nevertheless, he left college after a year to concentrate on his love for music.

Career
Christopher Stapleton relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 2001 to pursue his occupation as a songwriting artist. He signed a contract with Sea Gayle Music publishing house shortly after reaching Nashville. He wrote a significant amount of hit songs for several famous musicians, including Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Luke Bryan, and Thomas Rhett, over the next decade.
He composed several country songs, many of which achieved number one on the charts and stayed at the top for weeks. These include ‘Never Wanted Nothing More’ recorded by Kenny Chesney, ‘Come Back Song’ recorded by Darius Rucker, ‘Love’s Gonna Make It Alright’ recorded by George Strait, and ‘Drink a Beer’ recorded by Luke Bryan.
In 2008, he took over as the lead singer for The Steeldrivers, a bluegrass group. Four albums and an independent live album are the band’s output. In 2010, Stapleton left The Steeldrivers and formed The Jompson Brothers, where he played both vocals and guitar. From 2010 to 2013, the band traveled across the southern US and performed as the opening act for Zac Brown Band. In November 2010 alone, it released a self-titled album. The band’s song ‘Secret Weapon’ was utilized by country singer Jason Aldean during his live shows.
Stapleton opted to pursue a solo career after signing with Mercury Nashville in 2013. He released his first single, ‘What Are You Listening To?’ in October 2013, but it did not perform well. Sir Elton John requested Stapleton’s recording of ‘I Want Love’ for his album ‘Restoration: Reimagining the Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’ in 2017. The All-American Road Show Tour was launched by him in May 2017 to promote his second and third studio albums. Alpharetta, Georgia, among other places has been visited by him on the tour so far, and it will conclude on November 4, 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Stapleton collaborated with Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello in the writing and performance of the track “The War Inside” on Morello’s 2021 album The Atlas Underground Fire. Stapleton performed the National Anthem of the United States at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona during Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023. Troy Kotsur, who won an Oscar, signed the lyrics using American Sign Language. Stapleton was joined by Cindy Blackman Santana and Snoop Dogg in recording a cover of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” as the 2023 opening theme song for Monday Night Football.
