Career
From a young age, he was intrigued by music and acquired the ability to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. A local singing contest in Stratford in 2007 saw a 12-year-old Bieber take second place, beating trained singers, by performing Ne-Yo’s ‘So Sick’. To share his performance with his family and friends, his mother first established a YouTube account. As his following increased on the channel, she remained consistent in posting more videos of him singing covers of various R&B songs.
In 2008, he made a decision to join Raymond Braun Media Group, a joint venture between Braun and Usher. Bieber’s first single on radio was released on May 18, 2009, titled ‘One Time’. After its release, the song reached an all-time high of No.12 on the ‘Canadian Hot 100’ and No.17 on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’. November 17, 2009 saw the release of his first EP, ‘My World’, which matched the success of his debut single. His next three singles, ‘One Less Lonely Girl’, ‘Love Me’, and ‘Favorite Girl’, all made the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.
To promote his debut EP, he appeared on television multiple times in late 2009. He was able to perform live on shows such as ‘The Today Show’, ‘The Wendy Williams Show’, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, and ‘Good Morning America’, and also had a guest starring role on ‘True Jackson, VP’.
His debut studio album ‘My World 2.0’ released Baby, the lead single, on January 18, 2010, and it became a worldwide hit overnight. The album’s official release on March 19, 2010, saw it reach the top ten charts in multiple countries, with it peaking at No. 1 in Canada, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The commencement of his first official headlining tour, the ‘My World Tour’, occurred on June 23, 2010 in Hartford, Connecticut. November 2010 saw the release of his ‘My Worlds Acoustic’ acoustic remix album.
March 26, 2012 marked the release of Boyfriend, the first single from his third studio album ‘Believe’. June 19, 2012 marked the release of the album by Island Records. The ‘Believe Tour’ was launched by him in September 2012 to promote the album. He released ‘Justin Bieber’s Believe’, a biographical concert film that was preceded by ‘Never Say Never’ in October 2013.
His fourth album, ‘Purpose’, was centered on the song ‘What Do You Mean?’ that was released on August 28, 2015. It became his first number-one single on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’ and earned him a Guinness World Record as the youngest male artist to debut at the top of that chart. The next two singles, ‘Sorry’ and ‘Love Yourself’, climbed to the peak of the same chart, making him the first artist in a decade, after Justin Timberlake, to achieve this feat.
He appeared in the remix version of Luis Fonsi’s ‘Despacito’ in 2017. This was his first time performing in a Spanish song. February 2020 saw the release of his fifth studio album ‘Changes’. His sixth album ‘Justice’ was released in the following year, and it also peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200. ‘2 Much,’ ‘Deserve You,’ ‘As I Am,’ and ‘Off My Face’ were some of the tracks on the album. His second extended play, ‘Freedom’, was also released in the same year.
In 2022, he began his fourth concert tour, which was called ‘Justice World Tour’. The tour was supposed to conclude in Kraków in March 2023, but it was postponed to September 4, 2022 in Rio de Janeiro. In addition to his musical career, he has also appeared in films like ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,’ ‘Justin Bieber’s Believe,’ ‘Zoolander 2,’ ‘Justin Bieber: Seasons,’ and ‘Justice World Tour.’
