Biography
Born November 8, 1980 in Guildford, United Kingdom, Holly Dione Walsh is the daughter of an Anglican vicar. Since then, she has become a British comedian. Walsh attended Christ’s Hospital School, before going on to study History of Art at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, which she described as “the most boring three years of my life”. In East London, she worked in different small art galleries after graduating.
Career
Walsh developed his writing skills by attending comedy writing evening classes, such as Stand Up and Deliver, while working in galleries, and as a result wrote for Jo Caulfield on BBC Radio 4. She made the switch to comedy full-time in 2006. Frank Skinner asked Walsh to play the role of Frank Skinner’s Skateboarding Dog in a TV pilot for Avalon Entertainment in 2007.
Walsh was a writer and guest on The Now Show on BBC Radio 4, appeared on Winging It on BBC Switch, and made videos for Current TV during 2009. Walsh occasionally contributes to Answer Me This!, a comedy podcast. A comedy film night called ‘Popcorn Comedy’ was created by Walsh and Jon Petrie (brother of CBBC’s Ed Petrie) in January 2009. In the summer of 2009, Walsh was involved in the production and co-hosting of Channel 4’s TNT Show.
Walsh was given the Edinburgh Comedy Best Newcomer Award in August 2011 for her first full-hour-long show.
She has appeared on TV shows, such as Edinburgh & Beyond on the Paramount Comedy Channel, The Late Edition, The Matt Lucas Awards, Mock the Week, QI,and Would I Lie to You?. She has appeared on the radio comedy shows Out to Lunch on BBC Radio 2, Just a Minute, winning on her debut broadcast on 3 March 2014, The Unbelievable Truth and The News Quiz.
